The tracks
Full-time days or part-time evenings
The same program, taught on two schedules.
- Days
Full-time track
Weekday mornings into the afternoon, for students who can make school their work for a while.
30 hours a week
Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm
Starts the first Monday of January, March, May, July, September and November
- Evenings and Saturday
Part-time track
Evenings and Saturday, for students who keep a job or a family schedule and still want the same program.
15 hours a week
Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, 5:30pm to 8:30pm, and Saturday, 9am to 3pm
Starts the first Monday of February, April, June, August, October and December
What you learn
Six skills, practiced every week
Each skill starts on a practice head and ends in the clinic chair.
Fades and tapers
Blending from skin to length on the clippers, on practice heads and then on clients.
Shears and scissor-over-comb
Cutting length on top and finishing the sides, the way most shop cuts end.
Razor work and shaves
Hot towel neck shaves, straight razor lines and a full shave, once your instructor says you are ready.
Beards and line-ups
Shaping a beard and cutting a clean hairline, temples and neckline.
Every hair texture
We teach cutting waves, coils, curls, twists and straight hair, because every one of them sits in a barber's chair.
Sanitation and the state's rules
Cleaning tools between clients and the rules the state exam asks about, in every week of the program.
The floor
A chair for every student
Each student has a station on the practice floor, with a chair and a place to hang an apron.
Classes are small enough that an instructor reaches every station in every session. You are never left to practice alone for long.
On the floor
A chair and a station for every student
An instructor within reach all session
The clinic floor opens to clients once students are ready

About the program
How many hours is the program?
The state sets the total hours before you can sit for the exam, and the office gives you the exact number at your tour. Full-time is 30 hours a week and part-time 15.
Can I switch tracks?
Talk to the office. Students move between tracks when a start date and a seat are open.
What if I miss a class?
Tell the office early. Missed hours are made up on the practice floor with an instructor.
Walk the floor
Book a campus tour and see a class at work.
