Questions, answered
How long is the program?
The state sets the total hours before you can sit for the exam, and the office gives you the exact number at your tour. Full-time is 30 hours a week and part-time 15, so part-time takes longer to finish.
Do I need experience?
No. The first weeks cover how to stand, how to hold the tools and how to read a head of hair.
Can I keep my job while I study?
Yes. The part-time track meets Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday.
When do classes start?
Full-time classes start the first Monday of January, March, May, July, September and November. Part-time classes start the first Monday of the months in between.
How do I apply?
Book a campus tour or call the office. Bring a photo ID and your school records, and the office takes you through the rest.
How does tuition work?
Tuition depends on the track and the kit, and the office writes it out before you enroll. A deposit holds your seat and goes toward tuition. See how tuition works for more.
What will the state exam ask?
The written side covers sanitation and the state's rules, and the practical side covers the cuts and shaves. We prepare you with practice tests and timed run-throughs.
What do I bring on the first day?
Your kit comes from the school, and the office lists every item before you enroll. Bring a photo ID and a notebook.
Can I get a haircut at the clinic?
Yes. Walk in Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 2pm, or book a time. A student cuts and an instructor checks the work.
Does anyone speak Spanish?
Jacinto, one of the instructors, speaks English and Spanish.
Still have a question?
Call the office or send a note and we will reply.
